The First Americans
1.) Who were the OLMEC people?
The Olmec people were the first civilization in Mesoamerica. These people grew rubber trees, and harvested rubber. The Olmec also developed the first numbering and letter system.
2.) What was UNIQUE about the Maya, Aztec, and Inca?
The Maya would sharpen their teeth, and they played a ballgame in which the ball was a persons head. They would also strap boards on children's heads to make their foreheads flat. The Aztecs usually went to war just to capture people to sacrifice to their gods. The Aztecs also introduced chocolate to the Spanish. The Inca were forbidden to wear shoes, and they ate guinea pigs. They also became good at opening a persons skull to heal a wound in the brain.
3.) What happened to the Maya, Aztec, and Inca?
The Maya moved to a different place, but they are still alive today. Their population rapidly declined for a reason we do not yet know. The Aztec were wiped out from disease, and many people were killed in wars. The Inca were all killed because the Spanish disease, Small Pox. They had no immunity for this sickness, so it killed all of them in a short amount of time.
